For my UX Design Immersive Course (at General Assembly) assignment I researched, designed and delivered a meal planning app prototype to help improve meal planning and the nightly meal creation process.
Currently the family meal planning and meal creation process is a bit disjointed and there are many pain points through the process. Through user interviews I collected insights and an affinity map helped organise the data into ideas and priorities. This helped define a problem statement. “Households want an easy weekly menu planning process to save time, so they can eat healthily, track cost and reduce waste”.
A journey map, user flow and MVP helped define the design problems and challenges. I created wireframe sketches and low fidelity wireframes to explore structure and flow ideas for the meal planning app. I created an interactive high fidelity protype in Figma. This was user tested in face to face moderated testing and unmoderated testing in Maze.
Subs For You allows parents to order and pay for their children’s school lunches online. Registered schools offer parents the option to order lunches from a select list of healthy lunch options from Subway.
Previously, the ordering process was a time consuming paper based system involving flyers, envelopes and money. The client wanted a digital alternative to streamline the process. We created wireframes and designs for the web pages and online ordering platform pages, helping to make the process a faster and more user-friendly experience.

A journey map was created to highlight the positive and negative aspects of the meal plan process. A user flow was created to plan out the app user path and a MVP matrix helped decide what items need to be added in the first prototype.

The design process started with wireframe sketches that included possible button actions and interactive flows sketched in red. These sketches were refined with low fidelity Figma wireframes that helped understand content and screen space for each stage in the app.
